No Gorilla Has Lived Longer
Fatou arrived at the Berlin zoo in 1959, believed to be about two years old. At 69 she is the oldest gorilla living in human care anywhere in the world — against a typical wild lifespan of 35 to 40 years. No cake for her birthday, though. Sugar isn't good for her now.
